Craig Murray is an author, historian, broadcaster and human rights activist. He was British Ambassador to Uzbekistan from August 2002 to October 2004, during which time he exposed the human rights violations of the Karimov administration. He campaigns for human rights and for transparency in global politics. He was the elected Rector of the University of Dundee from 2007 to 2010. His books include Sikunder Burnes: Master of the Great Game (2016), The Catholic Orangemen of Togo (2009), and a memoir Murder in Samarkand (2006).
